A former hunting ground in the Greater Kruger area, rehabilitated in to a private game reserve boasting 2 exclusive riverside camps.
A place of second chances
The Sandringham story has been one of survival, resilience, and the impact of human interference. But now, a new story is being written - a story of second chances. Sabi Sabi has always aimed to conserve rapidly dwindling wilderness areas that form such an important part of South Africa’s heritage. Sandringham was borne from the desire to restore this ex-hunting ground to what it was always meant to be - a protected conservation area humming with life.
Since 2022, the Sabi Sabi Collection team began to slowly rehabilitate and renew the reserve from the remnants of its hunting-ridden past. Through careful management and lots of patience, Sandringham Private Game which was a once-forgotten wilderness, is now becoming a thriving, interconnected ecosystem where nature thrives on its own terms.

What makes Sandringham Special
The wilderness to yourself
With a total of 12 suites and 2 family villas, Sandringham's luxury riverside camps provide a highly intimate and personalised experience.
The exclusivity and privacy at camp extends to your safari experience as you explore the 5000 hectare private reserve. With a maximum of 10 vehicles traversing the 160kms of mapped road network, you will truly have the wilderness to yourself.
A water-rich natural paradise
With four rivers flowing though the reserve, Sandringham has the luxury of providing ample water sources for animals throughout the seasons, thus resulting in very special sightings no matter the time of the year you visit.
The presence of ample water alongside the 2 camps and across the reserve, means that guests often get to witness sightings of animals interacting with the water, be it swimming, drinking, bathing or just wallowing.
Become part of a special story
A few years ago, the Sabi Sabi Collection team began rehabilitating this former hunting reserve in order to restore it to what it was always meant to be - a protected area where nature thrives on it's own terms.
Our team's extensive conservation efforts have already yielded great results and we look forward to continuing this journey as we venture out with guests to explore this rehabilitating reserve, telling stories about it's wild and intriguing past.
We are currently building 2 luxury camps at Sandringham and are expected to receive guests in the third quarter of 2026.

View Sandringham HouseThe Sandringham Safari Experience
Due to the dark history of the reserve, Sandringham required careful management and rehabilitation. For the past few years our teams have been slowly building mutual trust with the animals, helping them to re-learn that human presence no longer means danger.
As we continue our efforts to build trust with the wildlife, guests can expect brief sightings, but more detailed game drives, focussing holistically on all elements of the environment. Walking safaris and birding safaris will be the star of the show at Sandringham, as the ample sources of water and varied vegetation attract numerous bird species, best seen while on foot.

The game drives with Jabu were unforgettable! We have traveled extensively all over the globe but have rarely experienced this level of service. We loved every minute of our stay.
